Rebecca specialises in matrimonial law. She is well-versed in Family Justice Courts and Syariah Court proceedings and has practised in all levels of the Singapore Courts.

In her years of practice, Rebecca has been involved in several notable cases:

  • Assisted in the landmark Court of Appeal case of ADP v ADQ [2012] SGCA 6 which found that the Singapore Courts have the jurisdiction under the Women’s Charter to order the division of matrimonial assets and payment of maintenance even if the marriage between parties was found to be void.

  • Co-counsel for the Plaintiff-Wife in UTY v UYZ [2019] SGFC 32 and successfully obtained an order for the enforcement of maintenance (for spouse and children) under a divorce order. The adverse party was incommunicado and had repeatedly evaded payment of maintenance over the course of 15 years.

  • Co-counsel for the Appellant-Wife in UYQ v UYP [2020] SGCA 3and successfully overturned the decision of the High Court to make an adjustment of 7.5% to the average ratios awarded to parties for the division of matrimonial assets. The adjustment resulted in a 7.5% decrease in her client’s share of the matrimonial assets and conversely, an unjustified 7.5% increase in the adverse party’s share of the matrimonial assets. Following an appeal on the matter, the adjustment was reversed and the division was reverted to the ratios that the High Court had originally determined.

  • Co-counsel for the Defendant-Husband in VMA v VMB [2020] SGFC 88 and successfully resisted an application to set aside a by-consent Order of Court (pertaining to ancillary matters).

  • Lead counsel for the Defendant-Mother in VZB v VZC [2022] SGFC 3 and successfully resisted an application for the return of a child to Thailand (despite a prior agreement that parties would relocate to Singapore with the child).

  • Lead counsel for the Applicant-Father in a recent 2025 case (unreported) where she succeeded in obtaining the reversal of care and control of a one-year-old child despite the mother having care of the child at the time of the application.

  • Lead counsel for the Applicant-Father in a recent 2025 case (unreported) where she succeeded in obtaining care and control of a 12-year-old child and also successfully resisted a relocation application.

  • Lead counsel for the Applicant-Mother in a recent 2025 case (unreported) where she succeeded in obtaining the return of a 3-year-old child who had been in the care of the child’s grandparents since the child’s birth.

  • Lead counsel for a client in a recent 2026 case and succeeded in resisting a complaint for a Personal Protection Order (PPO) against the client. She also succeeded in obtaining a PPO for the client against the client’s spouse.
